E.W. Moon, Inc. provided Civil Engineering design services for Port of Long Beach Pier E Slip 3 Redevelopment Project. Determine modifications necessary to existing Pier D utility systems. Design backland improvements consisting of demolition of 180 feet of easterly side of Pier D for the improvement of Pier E.
Services included grading, paving, utilities, lighting and striping on Pier D and temporary striping on Pier E. The Pier E Slip 3 redevelopment is the first project to be initiated under the Port of Long Beach, Mega Terminal Program of development, expansion, and improvement of various container terminals throughout the Port. Work also included demolition of existing wharf and sheet pile bulkhead structure, dredging, construction of a new sheet pile bulkhead and wharf expansion on the south end of Slip 3. Landfill of Slip 1 and reconstruction of Slip 3 existing wharf, widening Slip 3 by demolishing an existing cellular bulkhead and cutting back the slope at Pier D on the west side of Slip 3.
